What the Sapphire Coast does to your paint.

Salt air, UV intensity, and coastal humidity break down exterior paint faster than anywhere inland. Most failures show up years before the timber underneath starts to rot — and most follow the same four patterns. If you can see any of these on your home, you're already on the clock.

Paint chalking on north-facing walls

The constant UV exposure on north-facing walls breaks down the binder in exterior paints, leaving a chalky powder on the surface. Once chalking starts, water beads less effectively and the wall is far more vulnerable to moisture — especially through join lines around windows and doors.

Mould and mildew on south-facing eaves

South-facing surfaces never fully dry between rain events. Combined with coastal humidity, this creates ideal conditions for mould growth on eaves, fascia boards, and under overhangs. Left untreated, the mould works into the paint film and eventually into the timber itself.

Flaking and lifting at window and door joins

The join between a window frame and the wall is where paint fails first. When the sealant cracks or the paint film lifts at these edges, water gets in behind — running down the wall cavity with every rain event. Catch it here and a repaint fixes it. Ignore it and you're looking at rot in the window frame.

Timber checking and greying

Unprotected or under-maintained timber — deck boards, fascias, window sills — checks and greys quickly in coastal conditions. The UV strips colour and the wet-dry cycle opens surface cracks. Once the cracks form, they hold moisture year-round. At this stage you need both carpentry (assess the timber) and painting (restore the surface).

What we do.

Five services, all available across the Sapphire Coast. We tell you which products are right for your specific location — what we use within 2km of the ocean is different to what we use in Bega or Cobargo — and we put it in writing before we start.

Exterior Painting

Exterior house painting

Full exterior repaints from roof line to foundation. Surface prep (wash, sand, fill, prime) before any top coat goes on. Coastal-grade paints specified for homes near the ocean. Written scope before we start — no hidden extras at the end.

Carpentry

Carpentry and renovation work

Door hanging, stair building, timber framing, decks, renovation carpentry. Particularly useful before a repaint — we can replace damaged fascia boards, rotted window sills, or swollen door frames before the paint goes on, so you get a clean finish that lasts.

What we promise. In writing.

Every painter on the coast promises clean work and a fair price. So do we. Here's what makes ours concrete: these four things go on your written quote before we touch a brush.

01

Written quote, within 48 hours.

We come out, assess the job, and get you a written quote within two working days. The quote itemises: surfaces, prep work, paint system, number of coats, and the total price. No verbal estimates that turn into something else at invoice time.

02

Products specified for your location.

We don't use the same primer and top coat on a Tathra beachfront as we do on a Bombala farmhouse. Your quote names the paint system — brand, product, sheen, and reason. If coastal conditions require an upgrade, we explain why before we quote it, not after.

03

Prep work done properly.

More than half of paint failures come from inadequate prep — painting over chalking, mould, or bare timber without the right primer. We wash, sand, fill, and prime before any top coat. If we find rot or structural damage during prep, we tell you before we paint over it.

04

Workmanship guaranteed.

Our workmanship is guaranteed — if something isn't right, we come back and fix it. The quote states what the guarantee covers and for how long. The product manufacturers also provide their own warranty on correctly-applied finishes, which passes through to you.

What our customers say.

Real reviews from homeowners and property owners across the Sapphire Coast.

★★★★★
"Painted the whole outside of our place at Short Point. Spent the first two days washing and sanding, didn't crack open a paint tin until day three. Two wet seasons in now and it looks the way it did the week they finished."
Sarah Mitchell Merimbula
★★★★★
"We're selling our place at Tathra and the agent said the fascia boards on the north side needed doing before any open homes. The painter brought a chippy with him, fixed it before the first coat, all in the one quote. Saved me about a fortnight trying to get two trades on the same week."
Mark Henderson Tathra
★★★★★
"Roof had gone that grey-green colour you get with the salt down here. Hadn't been touched since we bought the place back in 2009. They washed it, redid a few ridge caps that'd cracked, then two coats on top. Neighbours have asked twice now who did it."

Common questions.

Answers to what we hear most from homeowners getting ready to repaint.

A standard single-storey home usually takes 3–5 days for a full exterior — longer if there's significant prep work (heavy chalking, mould, multiple coats needed on bare or raw surfaces). Two-storey homes or homes with a lot of architectural detail take longer. We give you a realistic timeline in the written quote before we start, including the day we plan to begin.
For homes within about 2km of the ocean, we specify paints with high-build formulas that resist salt air and UV better than standard exterior products — typically products from the Dulux Weathershield or Taubmans All-Weather range, depending on the surface and condition. We put the specific product and reason in your written quote so you know exactly what's going on your home and why.
Yes. We come out, walk through the job with you, and provide a written quote at no charge. No call-out fee, no obligation. We aim to have the written quote to you within 48 hours of the assessment visit.
Yes. We cover Merimbula, Bega, Eden, Tathra, Narooma, Cobargo, Candelo, Bombala, and surrounding areas across the Bega Valley and Sapphire Coast region. Some outlying properties may attract a travel supplement — we'll advise in the quote if that applies to your location.
Yes — and this is one of the main advantages of working with us. Rotted fascia boards, damaged window sills, swollen door frames, and deteriorated deck boards all need to be addressed before a good repaint can go on. We assess the carpentry and painting together, quote both in a single written scope, and do the carpentry first so the painting finishes clean. No need to coordinate two separate tradies.
For exterior work, generally no — once we've done the initial walkthrough you don't need to be home during the job. We're used to working on holiday homes managed remotely, and we'll send photo updates during and after the job. For interior work, arrangements vary — we can discuss during the quote visit what works best for your situation.
